Listed “green” winter travel areas for Irish tourists, including Spain, France, Italy and more – .

Spain, France, Italy and Poland have been ranked by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control among the safest countries to travel this winter.
Each has reported extremely low infection rates in recent weeks – with less than 50 cases of infection per 100,000 population.

The latest ECDC report pointed out that a number of regions in each country were ‘green’, meaning they had a test positivity rate of less than 4% in the past two weeks.

Passengers are no longer discouraged from traveling to or from the areas mentioned by the report – as the risk of becoming infected is relatively low.

They are:

  • Regions of Italy: Apulia, Molise, Abruzzo, Umbria, Sardinia, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia
  • Regions of France: Brittany, Normandy, Hauts-de-France, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Center-Val de Loire, New-Aquitaine
  • Regions of Spain: Galicia, Asturias, Castile and Leon, Extremadura, Andalusia, La Rioja, Navarre, Murcia, Valencia
  • Regions of Poland: Pomerania, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Wielkopolskie, Lubusz, Lower Silesia, Opole Silesia, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathi, Province of Holy Cross, Lodz

European authorities still urge all tourists visiting one of these regions to consult the travel advice available for each.

For example, throughout Italy, the EU’s Covid-19 digital certificate is mandatory for all citizens and travelers who wish to be allowed to enter the country, as well as bars, cafes, restaurants, theaters, museums. , sporting events, amusement parks, conferences, meetings, etc.

Likewise, anyone traveling to France should know that they need a valid EU Covid digital certificate that proves that they have been vaccinated, have been recently recovered, or have tested negative in the last 48 hours in order to have access to most places and services.
