The NBA 2021-22 season has finally arrived, and is expected to begin with two star-studded clashes.

The show continues when the new look of the Los Angeles Lakers welcomes the Golden State Warriors to the STAPLES Center. This will be our first real look at the Lakers Big 3, with Russell Westbrook making his debut alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The trio will look to defeat Stephen Curry and his company, looking to start their season on the right foot.

Third quarter:

– The LeBron x AD connection is already in mid-season form. LeBron with touch pass for layup crowns Lakers 7-0 run as they do so 68-61.

– And the game is tied! Jordan Poole buries his first hat-trick of the game to succeed 61-61.

Half time: Lakers 59, Warriors 53

The Lakers led up to 10 points, AD (20 points) and LeBron (18 points) keeping their foot on the gas. Despite the Lakers’ dominance on the inside, the Warriors are refusing to leave, with their bench unit of Andre Iguodala, Nemanja Bjielica and Damion Lee giving them a few precious minutes. The trio combined for 20 points at halftime.

– The Warriors have no answer for Anthony Davis, who is doing everything possible! He leads the Lakers with 20 points on 9 of 16 shots.

– That’s it, Russell Westbrook gets his first bucket of the game with a layup. He is 1 in 5 in the field. Lakers lead 48-43 halfway through the second.

– The King hasn’t failed yet! He is at 14 points.

End of the first quarter: Lakers 34, Warriors 32

The Lakers take a two-point lead at the break, with Anthony Davis and LeBron James accounting for 24 of the team’s 34 points.

Davis leads all scorers with 14 points, while LeBron has 10. Curry leads the Warriors with eight points on 2 of 8 shots.

– A quick five-point flurry from Steph Curry helps cut the deficit to just two points as the Warriors start to find their rhythm at the end of the quarter.

– The start was slow for Steph Curry, who started 1 for 7 on the field to start this game.

– The home crowd welcomes new Laker Carmelo Anthony and 2020 champion Rajon Rondo to the STAPLES Center.

– LeBron fires him. The Lakers explode in a 10-0 run to bring the score to 17-12 in the middle of the period.

– The Lakers’ size advantage is already being felt with LeBron and AD overpowering the big Warriors in the paint.

– And we’re underway at the STAPLES Center, with LeBron James finding DeAndre Jordan for the long range lob!
