Towns has lost his mother and several of his loved ones to COVID-19, but he respects a person’s personal decision not to be vaccinated.

For those who keep up to date with what’s happening in the world of sports, Kyrie Irving has dominated the headlines. The Brooklyn Nets baller became the topic of discussion as his choice to remain unvaccinated was debated. Sports leagues are cracking down on unvaccinated players as mandates across the country change the way companies do business. It has been determined that Irving will not be participating in home games at this time and may not be able to play in certain states, depending on regulations.

Irving recently took to Instagram Live to defend his position and let people know he is not considering retiring. In a recent interview with Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, the basketball star revealed to NJ.com that he supports people’s right to choose.

Towns not only lost his mother to complications from COVID-19, but several other family and loved ones as well.

“I’m obviously a big fan of the vaccine,” Towns said. “I have been through so much and it would be a bit contradictory not to be on the pro-vaccine side… But what I will say is that I believe in choice and I like giving people their choice and I don’t have a problem with people who have a choice. “

He thinks Americans have a right to refuse the vaccine, however, he was against the way people apologize.

“They make their own decisions about their own bodies and their own families. I have no ill will in this regard. The only thing I would say is don’t give myself an excuse for why [you choose not to get vaccinated] Towns said. “You don’t want to do it, it’s your choice. “
