Houston Police issued an arrest warrant for Tom Sharkey on September 29, in connection with the death of his wife, who was strangled in November 2020.

The suspect escaped police who eventually caught him in Fort Myers, Florida.

Authorities attempted to make an arrest at the Florida home, but when authorities entered the residence, Sharkey’s body was found inside after he allegedly committed suicide, the Houston Chronicle reported.

“The investigation determined that Thomas Sharkey … is the only person who had the means, the motive and the opportunity to have committed the murder,” said the homicide division sergeant. Michael Burrow at a press conference.

“We were able to eliminate other suspects who were reported, some of whom were raised by Mr. Sharkey. “

The influencer was reported hours after her body was found in late November along a road about three miles from her apartment. His death was declared homicide by strangulation in January.

At one point in the investigation, the medical examiner replaced Tom with Alexis’ parents as the next of kin, although no explanation was provided, the newspaper reported.

Investigators concluded that Alexis was killed when she told him she wanted a divorce.
