Husband wanted for murder of influential woman ‘kills himself’ as police close in – .

A fugitive husband suspected of murdering his influential wife was shot and killed as the US Marshals came to arrest him.
Tom Sharkey, 50, was wanted in the murder of Instagram star Alexis Sharkey, whose naked body was found next to a road in Houston, Texas, after being strangled in November last year .

Alexis, 26, was missing less than 24 hours after being found dead, and authorities believed her body had been “carefully placed” by the side of the road.

Tom, a bodybuilder, had denied claims he had a fallout with his wife and that they had a fight before his death, but an arrest warrant was issued last month.

The marshals had tracked him to his daughter’s home and were preparing to arrest him when he died in apparent suicide.

A relative claims he ran upstairs and shot himself at around 1 a.m. Wednesday, local media reported.

His body was found after marshals knocked on the door and began searching the house in Fort Myers, Florida.

Police said Tom was the only person with “the means, the motive and the opportunity” to murder Alexis.

Investigators said there was a history of domestic violence and that Tom was “evasive” and lied during the investigation.

He was to be charged with the murder of his wife, whose body was found five kilometers from their home.

After her death, friends said she was planning to divorce her husband and claimed he was violent.

Tom had published several posts on Facebook following the discovery of his wife’s body.

In one he wrote: “My world! My everything ! I’m so lost right now! My one and only !

He later spoke to KTRK-TV, stating, “We didn’t fight when she left. I just told her she couldn’t drive under the influence.

“She left anyway. This is where we are at.

While Tom denied that they had a seizure before his death, he said “there are always other sides to everything”.

He added: “I don’t need to set the record straight.

“I’m going to let it go as it is. I know what my life was like with my wife. “
