Houston Astros beat Boston Red Sox to reach World Series – .

In the first round of the playoffs, the Astros overtook AL Central champion the Chicago White Sox, losing just one game and edging their opponent by 31-18.

In the ALCS, where the Astros were on their fifth consecutive trip, the Red Sox fought harder. Not only did they have more experience than the White Sox, but they also had one of the best attacks in baseball, which put the Astros’ pitching staff at risk.

The Astros trailed in the series, two games to one, before securing three straight wins. They scored nine points in Game 4 and again in Game 5 in Boston.

Back in Houston for Game 6, the winning formula was different. The Astros held a 2-0 lead in seven innings – both of which featured slugger Yordan Alvarez – then posted three more on a Kyle Tucker homer in the eighth. That was more than enough for a pitching team led by starter Luis Garcia, who allowed just one hit in five innings and two-thirds goalless.
