Hong Kong bans Air Canada flights from Vancouver for 2 weeks – .

The Hong Kong Department of Health has banned direct flights from Vancouver to Hong Kong operated by Air Canada for two weeks.

Hong Kong authorities took action on Friday after detecting nearly 60 imported cases over a two-week period.

One of those cases involved an Oct. 13 Air Canada flight between Vancouver and Hong Kong, officials said in a press release.

A passenger on the flight also “failed to meet the requirements specified in the disease prevention and control regulations,” he said.

As a result, Hong Kong is banning the landing of Air Canada passenger flights from Vancouver until October 29, he said.

Air Canada said it was canceling the flight schedule on October 16, 23, 26 and 29, but noted that its Toronto-Hong Kong flights were not affected.

“Affected customers on all four flights are re-rented and offered travel options when available and tailored to the customer,” the airline said.

“Customers are also entitled to a refund of the remaining value of their tickets if we are unable to reserve them on a new flight departing within three hours of their original departure time. “
