George Clooney rules out a political future – .

LONDON – George Clooney ruled out a second political career on Sunday, saying he would rather have a “good life” and seek to reduce his workload.

Nonetheless, the 60-year-old actor and director got into politics during an interview with the BBC’s Andrew Marr. Clooney, a longtime supporter of US President Joe Biden, described America as a country still recovering from the damage done by Donald Trump.

When asked if he intended to run for office, Clooney was quick to dismiss the idea.

“No, because I would really like to have a good life,” said Clooney, who appeared on the show to promote his new movie, “The Tender Bar”.

Clooney said he plans to take on fewer projects as long as he’s healthy and can still “play basketball and do the things I love.”

“I turned 60 this year and had a conversation with my wife and we were working a lot, like we both do, and I said we have to look at those years as happy years,” he said. he declared. “In 20 years, I’ll be 80 and that’s a real number. It doesn’t matter how much you train, what you eat, you are 80 years old and so I said that we have to make sure to enjoy and live those years in the best possible way. “

Clooney ignored concerns over Biden’s sagging polls, saying the president is still grappling with Trump’s legacy.

“It’s like taking a battered child and thinking that everything will be fine on their first day in school,” Clooney said. “There’s a lot that needs to be fixed, there’s a lot of healing that needs to happen, and it’s going to take time. “

Trump remains a factor in US politics, Clooney said, adding that he hopes Americans will have “a little more common sense” than sending him back to the White House.

“It’s so funny, because he was just that jerk,” Clooney said. “I knew him before he was president. He was just a guy chasing girls. Every time you went out he would say, ‘What’s that girl’s name?’ That’s all he was. ”
