Gary Neville was mocked by Jamie Carragher after turning around on his favorite Manchester United starting lineup.

Former Red Devils captain Neville was asked on Twitter during a question-and-answer session in September, what his favorite United XI was with every player fit and available.

In his response, he included attacking-minded men such as Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani.

But after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 4-2 loss to Leicester City on Saturday, Neville said the Red Devils needed more ‘workhorses’ in the squad instead of flooding it with attackers.

Another Sky Sports expert, Carragher, was quick to point out the inconsistency of his argument, tweeting: “You literally picked a team with 5 forwards 2 weeks ago.

“@ GNev2 everywhere, all of you,” before adding three crying laughing emojis.

Neville said a “nuance” was required for his argument

The Liverpool legend received a response from the former United skipper, who responded, starting with a zipped mouth emoji: “That was before Villarreal and Everton at home! ”

“Not in this series of games. Nuance is lost on Twitter or with you. “

Carragher went on to quote his tweet and wrote, “Nuance,” along with three other emojis crying with laughter.

On Saturday night, Neville slammed Solskjaer’s selection because he believes the Old Trafford stars don’t work as hard as those of rival teams off the ball.

“Great players are able to do it both ways, but these players are biased on the offensive side of the game, they just are,” he said during a speech on Sky Sports.

“What they need is to have the work ethic of [ Manchester City ‘s] Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne, [Liverpool’s Roberto] Firmino and [Sadio] Mane, world class players, who work like absolute dogs in every game.

“I don’t see that at Manchester United with some of their talented players.

“When I think of the names I mentioned in this Manchester United team they don’t work as hard as Mane, Firmino, De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, so better players and working harder means you’re going to finish higher than them that simple so you better start working as hard as them. “

Neville added: “Manchester United right now is out of balance and the performances are now getting what they deserve in terms of results and that needs to change.

“The performance must be much better and today [at Leicester] it was not a surprise.

“I think the performances this season haven’t been good enough even though they win against Newcastle – even when everyone is getting carried away it wasn’t good enough that day.

“Manchester United off the ball is not good enough. “
