Forensic comb scene as ‘nasty fight’ sees man rushed to hospital – .

Forensic scientists are inspecting the scene of a “bad fight” at a bar and restaurant in the Liverpool marina.
Emergency services rushed to the Yacht Club on the Coburg quay around 8 p.m. on Friday, October 15.

Merseyside Police have received reports that a man in his 60s has been assaulted in the area.

He was rushed to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service in serious condition.

A man in his 40s was grabbed by nearby police and arrested on suspicion of assault.

He was taken into police custody where he is being questioned by officers.

Merseyside Police have set up a large cordon surrounding the Yacht Club, its parking lot and much of the roadway along South Ferry Quay.

An ambulance was seen leaving the scene, escorted by a police car with flashing blue lights.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We have this evening, Friday the 15th e October, arrested a man on suspicion of assault.

“Officers were contacted at 8:05 pm following reports that a man in his 60s had been assaulted in the Coburg Wharf / Liverpool Marina area.

“A man in his forties was detained nearby and arrested on suspicion of assault s18. He is currently in detention where he will be questioned by the police.

“The 70-year-old man was taken to hospital in serious condition. “

People would show up at the restaurant and bar dressed for a night out, only to be turned away by the police at the door.

Witnesses were locked inside the bar for “hours” according to witnesses inside.

A man said he was on duty in the back room when he found out something had happened.

He said: “It’s been a hell of a night, we were here for a function and heard that something had happened.

“We’ve been locked in there for a few hours, I feel bad for the man in the hospital. “

Another eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said he saw a “bad fight” outside the building.

Two forensic vans arrived at the scene shortly after and were seen scanning the scene for evidence.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and witness and video surveillance investigations are ongoing.
