Flu shot reservations now available online through AHS – .

Albertans can now book their flu shots online through the province’s vaccine reservation system.

Online reservations for the flu shot opened on October 15 and first appointments are available Monday. This date coincided with the opening of influenza vaccine eligibility to all people six months of age and older. Previously, only high risk people were eligible.

In addition to booking online, appointments can be made at a local pharmacy, walk-in clinic or participating doctor’s office.

Children under the age of five should be vaccinated at an Alberta Health Services clinic. Appointments for them can be made through the online reservation system or by calling Health Link on 811.

The flu shot is the first non-COVID vaccine to be offered on the province’s vaccine reservation system. If they are not yet fully immunized, users of the system can reserve their flu shot and a COVID vaccination dose for the same appointment.

In a press release on Friday, Verna Yiu, president and CEO of Alberta Health Services, urged Albertans to reserve their flu shot even though they were already vaccinated against COVID.

“By keeping the number of influenza cases low, we can help protect Albertans at risk and reduce the strain on our health care system,” she said. “Now more than ever, we need to work together to protect each other and our health. -system of care. ”
