We finally got a first glimpse of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s beginnings in the DC Universe through a first glimpse of Black Adam.
Shown at DC FanDome 2021, the footage begins with a massive explosion and a menacing figure clad in a black cape. A soldier is quickly reduced to ashes, and as the others open fire, the character catches a bullet in the air. The figure begins to rise and at that point we catch a glimpse of the iconic symbol of Black Adam.

Black Adam was apparently originally slated to be a part of DC’s Shazam! before this film was split in two. After learning that The Rock’s version of the antihero wouldn’t be part of the Shazam movie, we waited a long time to see a first glimpse.

We had an illustrated teaser at last year’s FanDome and learned that the film will feature the Justice Society of America, with Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Pierce Brosnan as from Doctor Fate. The film will finally arrive on July 29, 2022.

Head here to learn more about Black Adam, the JSA, and their inevitable conflict.
