Eagles trade quarterback Joe Flacco for Jets – .

Joe Flacco returns to New York. The Jets have acquired veteran quarterback from the Eagles, reports NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo (via Twitter). Philly will acquire a conditional sixth-round pick that could progress to a fifth-round pick depending on Flacco’s playing time (by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter).

Despite the Jets moving to a rookie quarterback with the number two pick, the organization decided not to sign a veteran QB this last offseason. Now with Zach Wilson expected to miss several weeks with a sprained MCL, the team was looking for depth in the post. We took a look at the backup Mike Blanc in yesterday’s resounding loss to the Patriots, and the former fifth-round pick threw a two-steal touchdown on his NFL debut. The Jets also line up Josh Johnson on their training team.

Flacco spent the 2020 campaign with the Jets and served as Sam Darnoldthe main backup of. The veteran ended up playing five games (four starts) with New York, completing 55.2% of his passes for 864 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.
