The Cowboys won another high-scoring game on Sunday, with star quarterback Dak Prescott throwing 445 yards and three touchdowns to beat the Patriots in overtime and solidify their place as the NFC East’s top dog at 5-1. . Their Week 7 goodbye comes at an opportune time, however, with Prescott striking once again following Sunday’s victory. The MVP candidate awkwardly fell on his winning shot, Prescott told reporters, before to be helped in the locker room. Now he’s wearing a protective boot on his right leg, with further testing on deck to find out what’s officially considered a strain of calf.

Prescott added that he would not have left Sunday’s game due to his injury, given his adrenaline rush. However, as the adrenaline worsened after the game, he could tell that something was wrong with his right calf, like United States todaynote by Jori Epstein.

“Life keeps throwing punches,” Prescott said, according to Epstein, “and I’ll keep firing them. It doesn’t hurt as much when you score and win the game.

Prescott didn’t seem worried at all, having fun with the post-game media, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer: Have fun with it this week. “

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Monday that Prescott suffered calf strain during the game. He added that the plan is for Prescott to rest and rehabilitate during the team’s week off before hopefully resuming full training the following Monday.

“There’s a gap in the timeline, but we’re optimistic for Minnesota,” McCarthy said of the Cowboys’ Week 8 game against the Vikings.

Prescott is no stranger to injuries. He spent the entire 2021 offseason recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him for all but five games in 2020, then struggled with a shoulder problem that emerged at camp training. Those injuries haven’t affected his performance this year, with the Pro Bowl signalman posting some of the best passing scores of the season to date. It’s unclear if his new injury will force Prescott to miss a workout, but he will be given the bye for any additional recovery it requires.
