Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve took the lead of the Houston Astros in their 5-4 win Friday night over the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.
Down two runs in the sixth inning, Altuve pulled off his 20th homerun in the playoffs to tie the game at three points apiece. The Houston infielder hit the home run for Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck.

In the next inning, Correa hit a monster solo home run to give Houston the lead late in the game. Correa dropped the bat and yelled at the canoe that it was his time. Altuve would come in the next round to add one more point on a fly bag.
Houston took a 1-0 lead in the series with the win.
Boston took the lead in the third inning. The set started with a home run from Kiké Hernández who tied the game at 1-1 following a Yordan Alvarez bag-fly in the first set. A mistake on Altuve’s field allowed Xander Bogaerts to give Boston a point, then Hunter Renfroe doubled up to score Rafael Devers.

Hernández would keep the game close with a home run against Astros closest Ryan Pressly to make it 5-4. But Pressly would regain control and close the door to Boston’s return chances.
Correa had the best performance of the evening. He was 3-for-4 with the home run that put Houston on its feet late in the game. Chas McCormick was also 3-for-4 and scored one point. These two were the only Houston players to have played multiple times.
Houston starter Framber Valdez has played 2 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits and struck out two batters. Houston used seven pitchers after Valdez to end the game.
Hernández finished 4-for-5 with a double and two homers for Boston. Devers was also 2 for 5 in the game. Chris Sale had 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and one earned run. The Red Sox also used seven pitchers after relieving Sale.
