Cardinals’ JJ Watt to undergo possible end-of-season shoulder surgery, report says – .

The Arizona Cardinals could do without star pitcher JJ Watt for the remainder of the 2021 season. Adam Schefter d’ESPN reported that Watt will undergo shoulder surgery which will likely end the season. Watt reportedly suffered a shoulder injury in the first half against his former team, the Houston Texans last Sunday.

Earlier Wednesday, the Cardinals excluded Watt from Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to his shoulder injury. He hasn’t practiced all week. While Watt was able to overcome the injury on Sunday, it looks like the problem was more serious than expected. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the recovery time for this procedure is probably at least three months.

In seven games played this season, Watt has recorded 16 combined tackles, one sack and 10 quarterback hits. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year shocked the NFL world this offseason when he announced he was signing a two-year, $ 31 million contract with the Cardinals after 10 seasons at Houston, but the Cardinals have proven to be a great landing point. Arizona are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL and have the No.4 defense in the league when it comes to average total rushing yards allowed per game. Now this defense is going to have to find a way to replace one of its starting defensive ends.
