Buffalo Bills say TE Dawson Knox broke his hand in loss to Tennessee Titans – .

BUFFALO, NY – Bills tight end Dawson Knox suffered a broken right hand in the team’s 34-31 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night, according to coach Sean McDermott.

“I don’t know much more at this point other than that we’re just going to be watching him,” McDermott said Tuesday. “We’ll see where he goes here. “

There are no major injury concerns, and Knox will be helped by the fact that the Bills will be on their week off before a Week 8 clash with the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo’s next three opponents only have one win each (Dolphins, Jaguars and Jets).

Knox caught three passes for 25 yards in the game. The former high school quarterback and the Bills’ 2019 third-round pick also managed a 2-point conversion assist to quarterback Josh Allen in the third quarter, despite having already suffered the injury.

“Kudos to Dawson,” Allen said. “I was trying to call off the game – I was shaking hands with [offensive coordinator Brian Daboll] like, ‘Don’t call it, we can’t do it.’ And [Knox] looked at me and said, ‘I got it. I’ll bring it to you. So putting your body on the line like that and pulling it off, that was a big game and it’s great when a teammate is up for it, and that’s why we love it. “

Allen said the injury was to Knox’s right hand, which is his throwing hand.

The tight end did not return to play after the pitch. Knox has become one of Allen’s favorite targets this season after an offseason of discussions about the Bills’ need to tackle the tight final position. Before the game against the Titans, he had touched down in four straight games and had just finished the first game of his career with over 100 yards. Knox leads all tight ends in touchdown receptions this year with five.

Tommy Sweeney, a seventh-round pick in the 2019 draft, is the next tight end on the list, but the Bills could look like they’re adding depth as well. Sweeney caught the first touchdown pass of his career after Knox came out.
