Ken Barlow of Coronation Street has been on the streets of Weatherfield since the show began in 1960 and it luckily looks like actor Bill Roache isn’t going anywhere just yet.

It’s hard to imagine the ITV show without the inclusion of Ken, who has been at the heart of the soap opera for decades.

With the actor turning 90 in April, there is no sign that he is slowing down his role on the cobblestones, as it has been reported that bosses have offered him a new contract to stay on the soap opera.

Executives are looking to put it in for another year, according to The Daily Star, as part of an exceptional six-figure deal.

A source told the publication: “Bill is an important part of Coronation Street and they know how much fans love him.

“Bill may be 90 years old, but he still has the energy, passion and talent that makes him the greatest actor of all time. “

Bill’s current contract would end later this year and a major storyline is planned to mark the actor’s 90th birthday.e birthday if he stays there.

Earlier this year, Bill took a short break from the ongoing drama in order to take care of his health, when he contracted Covid.

Soap said in a statement at the time: “Following recent reports on his health, William Roache asked us to clarify that he took time off after testing positive for Covid.

“He’s made a good recovery and can’t wait to get back on the cobblestones as soon as possible. “

It comes after Bill wondered if he would ever think of quitting soap in the near future.

He explained that he had no intention of doing it, sharing, “Although I can do it and they want me, I will be there. Retirement is not on the radar at all.

‘I have no plan for this. I don’t even like to think about how they would write Ken if I left, because I hope that never happens.
