Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed when Baldwin unloaded a gun on the set of the western Rust.
The movie director Joël Souza – who was standing behind her – was shot in the shoulder.
Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 24, had install the gun and two more, according to an affidavit from the Sante Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
In a statement released through her lawyer, Jason Bowles, Ms Gutierrez-Reed said she was “devastated and completely beside herself with the events that have occurred”.
“Hannah would like to express her deepest and most sincere condolences to Halyna’s family and friends,” he said.
“She was an inspiring woman in cinema that Hannah admired. She also offers her thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to Joel. “
However, Mr Bowles said Ms Gutierrez-Reed wanted to “expose certain untruths” which “falsely portrayed and slandered” her role in the incident.
The statement continued, “Safety is Hannah’s number one priority on set. Ultimately, this set would never have been compromised if the live ammunition had not been introduced. Hannah has no idea where the live bullets are coming from.
“Hannah and the prop master took control of the guns and she never saw anyone shoot live ammunition with those guns and she didn’t allow it either.
“They were locked up every night and at lunch and there is no way a single one of them was missing or shot by crew members.
“Hannah, to date, has never had an accidental discharge. “
After the shooting, Ms Gutierrez-Reed removed a casing from the gun and handed it over to police upon arrival, according to court records.
The local district attorney said criminal charges in the case were not excluded.
Baldwin, known for his roles in 30 Rock and The Hunt for Red October, as well as his impressions of former US President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, called the murder a “tragic accident.”
Prior to playing the role of gunsmith in a previous film, Ms Gutierrez-Reed reportedly said she was not sure whether she was ready for the job.
Speaking in an interview after completing a role of chief gunsmith for Nicolas Cage’s film The Old Way, Ms. Gutierrez-Reed said: “I almost didn’t take the job because I wasn’t. sure to be ready, but doing it went really well. “
She also reportedly admitted that she found loading blanks into a gun to be “the scariest thing” and that she enlisted the help of her father, famous gunsmith Thell Reed, in overcoming her fear. .
