A ‘Non-Cancellable’ Community: The ‘Truth’ on Trump’s Social Media Platform

TThe TRUTH is there, according to known facts provider Donald Trump. On Wednesday, the former president, banned from major social media platforms since January, announced that he would be launching his own social media company called Truth Social. Although, in typical Trump style, it is called Social TRUTH.

The network, which screenshots from Apple’s App Store look suspiciously like a Twitter clone, will open to “guest users” next month and roll out to the public early this year next. The app is apparently part of a larger media network called Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) which aims to take on the ‘liberal media consortium’.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to resist the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said in a statement. “We live in a world where the Taliban have a strong presence on Twitter, but your favorite US president has been silenced. This is unacceptable. “

Trump’s plans for TMTG are hugely ambitious. Not only does he want to take on Facebook and Twitter, he wants to disrupt Disney, Apple, Netflix, Google and Amazon. How exactly is he going to do that? Good question. The 22-page company presentation outlining TMTG’s vision is rich in hyperbole, but not very detailed. Here’s the gist:

TMTG will be too big to cancel

While Trump was announced as the chairman of TMTG, they might still need to hire someone who is good with numbers (maybe Ivanka Trump is available?) In one slide they look at the number people who listen to podcasts and watch Netflix; from there, they extrapolate that TMTG can get “potentially hundreds of millions of users”. Then they ditch the math altogether and put a cute picture of something that looks a bit like Earth, but is definitely not Earth as we know it, on a slide with the word “massive” on it. TMTG’s goal, this slide proclaims, is to build a “non-cancellable” global community.

TMTG will absorb life force from all other conservative media

Apparently the Technicolor sperm in another image are about to fertilize Trump’s new media egg. The striking visual is meant to represent how TMTG will unify the “fragmented ‘non-Big Tech’ universe.” I don’t know how it works, because Fox News and News Max will technically be its competition, but I’m sure someone out there has a very clever plan.

Truth Social will encourage an “open, free and honest” conversation… in a way

TMTG’s investor presentation features Truth Social as a ‘big tent’ social media platform that will unite people of all political ideologies. However, when you explore the terms of use of the platform, things get a bit tricky. Users must undertake not to “inconvenience” any of the employees and not to “denigrate, tarnish or harm, in our opinion, us and / or the site”. So don’t be rude about Trump, basically. Users should also agree to refrain from “excessive use of capitals”. OK TRUTHS!

America’s thirst for ‘unawakened’ entertainment will finally be satisfied

Move over Netflix, TMTG + is going to be an on-demand streaming service that promises to serve all the censored “unawakened” entertainment everywhere else. Like what exactly? Well, from the visuals this content appears to consist of boxing and sumo wrestling. Does this mean that we have all been endangered by the Olympics?

Yes, TMTG’s plans sound ambitious, but Trump has the good faith to make it a success yuuuuge

To reassure investors that TMTG’s plans to build the greatest media empire in universe history are very achievable, the presentation ends with some helpful visuals from old newspapers. We even have a coffee cup stain on it for authenticity. Trump’s entertainment success comes down to two key accomplishments: The Apprentice and the Miss Universe Pageant. Oddly, there is no mention of all the casinos that Trump has gone bankrupt. He also fails to mention his largely exhausted board game and the little question of his presidency of the United States.

TMTG’s corporate presentation doesn’t really inspire confidence. But that doesn’t seem to have deterred potential investors. The company plans to go public by merging with a special purpose acquisition company (SPac) called Digital World Acquisition Company (DWAC). After this news broke, DWAC’s stock jumped 400% and it looks like it’s the next meme action.
