A seven-year-old was killed by the newly rescued family dog ​​while playing in the yard of his home in Oklahoma.

Little James McNeelis was playing outside his Kiefer house with the animal on the evening of October 20, when he suddenly disappeared.

When he didn’t answer calls to come home for dinner, his worried family called 911. At 7:35 pm that evening, James’s body was found by his distraught father, Michael McNeelis. .

“We heard the blood-curdling screams of ‘No! Said a neighbor.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog is currently being held at an animal control facility, but it is not known whether it will be euthanized.

The Creek County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate the event.

“It doesn’t look like any foul play,” Creek County Sheriff Bret Bowling told KOCO.

“Our indications or preliminary investigations indicate that this is some kind of animal,” said the sheriff.

The family had rescued the dog three weeks earlier after it was “dumped on the side of the road”.

They said the dog, a mixture of Corgi and Shetland Sheepdogs, showed no signs of aggression.

James’ father, Michael McNeelis, shared his grief on Facebook.

“He was so full of life and light and he was going to change the world. And it still is.

“His light will change the world.

“We feel lonely and lost without him and we do everything we can but it’s just difficult. Everything hurts without my little boy here, ”he wrote in an article.

Neighbor Shannon Edinson told KOTV she was celebrating a birthday on her porch when she heard screams coming from James’ house.
