560 more new COVID-19 cases reported in British Columbia plus five deaths – .


560 more cases of COVID-19 were reported in British Columbia on Tuesday, along with five additional deaths.

Of the new cases, 208 were in Fraser Health Region, 80 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health Region, 79 in Interior Health Region, 61 in Island Health region and 131 in Northern Health region . A new case involved a person residing outside of Canada. Eight of the cases are epilated.

The five deaths – two at Fraser Health, two at Northern Health and one at Island Health – bring the death toll from COVID-19 in British Columbia to 2,086.

There are 382 people with COVID-19 in hospitals in British Columbia, an increase of 22 from Monday. Of these, 146 are in intensive care, a decrease from five.

There have been 198,838 cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia since the start of the pandemic, of which 4,913 are active.

The province said 89.2% of eligible people in British Columbia received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 83.5% received both doses.

Earlier today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that capacity limits for indoor and outdoor events will be lifted across much of British Columbia on October 25. .

Henry said sporting events, indoor concerts, cinemas, symphonies and other venues can reach 100% of their capacity when proof of vaccination status is verified. The same is allowed for weddings, funeral receptions and parties.

Orders to restrict the movement of people in restaurants will also be lifted.

50% capacity limits will remain in place in Fraser East and parts of Northern and Interior Health, areas with the highest COVID-19 transmission rates.
