The men got into the car, Stuart said, and drove about 28 miles south to a property owned by a family member.
They reportedly began searching in and around the car and found the naked, dead body of a man “who had been there for at least 24 hours,” according to the coroner.
The two men immediately called 911 and remained at the scene until police arrived, he added.
The victim has been identified as Anthony McCrillis, 34, who is the registered owner of the car.
McCrillis was last seen in the Byram area on Friday night around 9 p.m., police said.
The body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“There are no visible signs of trauma, like a gunshot or stabbing,” said Stuart, who added the man was unrelated.
