Twitter critics landed on the president of a video game company this weekend after praising Texas’ new anti-abortion law.
In response, he resigned his post on Monday, The Hill reported.
The new law criminalizes all abortions after six weeks, which is before most women even know they are pregnant. There are no exceptions for cases of rape or incest. He also sets up a bounty system that allows vigilantes to raise $ 10,000 if they successfully prosecute anyone who “helps and encourages” an abortion.
Proud of #USSupremeCourt affirming Texas law prohibiting abortion for babies with a heartbeat. As an artist, I don’t often do politics. Still, with so many vocal peers on the other side of this question, I thought it was important to speak out as a pro-life game developer.

We do not share the opinion expressed in a recent tweet from the Chairman of Tripwire, editor of Chivalry 2. This point of view is not shared by our team, nor reflected in the games we create. The declaration opposes what we believe about women’s rights.

Directly on @logangreen – drivers should not be put at risk to get people where they want to go. Team @Uber is also involved and will cover legal costs in the same way. Thanks for the push. https://t.co/85LhOUctSc

The TX Law does not save lives or stop abortions; it just makes them less safe and more likely to lead to DEATH of the mother. This draconian law is unconstitutional and allows citizens to become bounty hunters to interfere with people’s medical procedures. It is not pro-life.

You will be making politics about unborn children, but not the people who already live here. Good to know!

Proud of the gaming community that condemns you for supporting a law that controls women’s reproductive rights. As a critic, I don’t often get involved in politics. Still, with so many vocal peers on the bright side of this issue, I thought it was important to go on record as a pro-choice. pic.twitter.com/A0RxSU3OC1

In 2018, my wife had an abortion. Our daughter Sophie did not have a skull and her heart grew outside of her chest. We didn’t find out until she was 25 weeks old. We had to travel to another state because it’s illegal here. The Dr said if it didn’t the woman would die with our daughter. I made the difficult choice

If you are looking for a game developer / company to ignore, may I suggest Tripwire Interactive, creator of the fairly popular Killing Floor series (what a Pro-Life name for a game!)? If you are wondering, you can configure Steam to ignore games from certain developers. I just did! https://t.co/M7eAbVUPbk

Thank you for bringing your point of view to our attention. I just donated $ 10,000 to Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas to help counter. Https://t.co/CueUo54q0h
