Traverse City NHL Prospects’ Notes, Quotes & Highlights – The Athletic – .

More than 100 NHL prospects, five teams (Red Wings, Maple Leafs, Blues, Stars and Blue Jackets) in staff and a league of scouts gathered in Traverse City, Mich., This week for the NHL Prospects Tournament, one of the first events on the calendar of every new season, I was there the entire tournament and watched every second of the nine games that were played.

Here are my notes on dozens of players, a few quotes from sources I spoke with and my strengths from each team as well as full stats for the event.

Detroit Red Wings

16 sept. vs Dallas : 5-4 Sept. 18 vs Saint-Louis : 5-2 L

19 septembre vs Columbus : 7-3 L

Record final : 1-2

Stand out

RW Lucas Raymond (# 4, 2020): Raymond was as advertised. There was the one-touch two-on-one goal, then the after goal and into the wall, then the laser beam from the top of the zone with a long-range wrist that really marked the progress he made in as long as a shooting threat. There were times he dusted pucks for a touch or two too long, but he also danced guys, made a lot of soft plays, looked really good on the power play, got down. in places to get a lot of touches and didn’t shy away from some pretty physical games.

LW Jonatan Berggren (# 33, 2018): Before Berggren got injured he looked really good.
