Liverpool have confirmed they are introducing COVID-19 spot checks for fans and day staff attending Manchester City’s game at Anfield this weekend.

A statement on the club’s website read: ‘Liverpool FC are introducing COVID-19 spot checks for fans and staff of the day attending Manchester City’s game at Anfield on Sunday October 3, as part of their commitment to the health and safety of the staff, the community and the fans attending each game.
“This is in line with the latest Premier League matchday protocols and all other clubs in the league. This is also supported by its city partners, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police and Spirit of Shankly.
“Spot checks will involve the club’s stewardship team randomly selecting a small percentage of active fans and staff to show their COVID-19 status and certifications. All home and away supporters attending the match must be prepared to show either proof of double vaccination. with the NHS COVID Pass or a negative lateral flow test performed within 48 hours of kick off. Children under 18 are exempt from testing and will not be invited to participate.
Spot checks are not a requirement for entry, but the club want to prepare fans for any policy change regarding large-scale events and COVID-19 certification, and to ensure the safety of supporters when they attend. matches. Any fan who wishes to voluntarily show their vaccination or proof of negative lateral flow test can do so by approaching one of the COVID-19 spot check stewards who will be visible around the stadium.
