They were the story of this event. Rahm with his breathtaking workouts and relentlessness throughout. Cantlay with a putter that won’t let go and a lead he never gave up after starting the week at 10 cents. There will be real pressure on the second nine on Sunday for obvious reasons ($ 15 million!) And not obvious. Cantlay could win the season and take the PGA Tour Player of the Year award with his fourth victory; Rahm could do so with his second as well, including this summer’s US Open. They will have pursuers, but they will be far away. With so much money at stake and this quality of players involved, Sunday should be a delight as the final 18 holes of what has been a truly insane season are played at East Lake Golf Club and a new FedEx winner Cup is crowned.
