La Palma volcano erupts in apocalyptic scenes as 5,000 terrified residents forced to flee – World News – .

Thousands of people were forced to flee as a terrifying volcanic eruption sent lava spitting into the air and trickling down rivers to their homes.
Authorities on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma began evacuating 5,000 people and animals before huge plumes of smoke began to rise in the air.

As a vast river of lava flowed into populated areas in the south of the island, authorities ordered the complete evacuation of four villages, including El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane.

Dramatic video footage showed the impending devastation as lava descended from five torn cracks in the hill.

Lava fountains could be seen shooting hundreds of feet into the sky, and at least three glowing orange rivers of molten rock poured down a hill, ripping gashes in woods and farmland.
