The former glamor model, 43, pleaded guilty to drunk driving, prohibited driving and driving without insurance following an accident near her home in Sussex on Tuesday.
The mother of five appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court a day after being involved in a collision with a single car which left her BMW overturned on its side on the B2135 near Partridge Green.
It has now been claimed that Katie had a huge argument with Carl before she got behind the wheel of her car.
According to information from The Sun, Katie had “been awake all night” on a binge drinking after having an explosive argument with her fiancé.
A source close to the star told the publication, “Katie and Carl had a huge argument and things got out of hand.
“She’s been under a lot of pressure over the past few weeks and it looks like she just broke down. Katie walked off the grid for eight hours as friends tried to find her.
“It seems that at this time she turned to alcohol and drugs. “
After Katie’s accident, Carl rushed to share his support for his fiancée, calling her a “diamond in the rough.”
The former Love Island star has declared his love for the mother of five as he appeared to stand up for her actions during the difficult time in his life.
Drawing inspiration from his Instagram stories, Carl wrote, “Relationships are tested, people test each other. But when you love someone like I love Katie, you enjoy the ups and the good times together, and that bond is put to the test during the weak and hard times together.
“Katie is a rough diamond. It has its imperfections. However, they make her perfect for me.
“She just needs that extra help to be polite. The sunlight will shine through it again and the sparks it brings to everyone will return.
Katie has pleaded guilty to all driving-related offenses and on Wednesday told the courts she would go to rehab amid her drug and alcohol problems.
The former glamorous model will enroll in a treatment program at The Priory Rehabilitation Center to seek help with her addiction issues under professional supervision.
This won’t be Katie’s first stint in the facility as she signed up for drug rehab in September 2018 to tackle her drug problems.
She spent 28 days in the facility after deciding to receive professional help after relying on cocaine to numb the pain of her problems.
Katie is due to be sentenced on December 15.
The Mirror has reached out to Katie’s reps to comment on this story.
