James bought a new kit as Everton’s departure was finalized – .

Suggestions that James Rodriguez is getting closer and closer to an impending departure from Everton escalated up a notch on Monday night.

James the outcast

Colombia international Rodriguez has proven to be a forgotten man in Merseyside’s blue half so far this season.

As the Toffees headed for a staggering 10 out of 12 points in their first four Premier League games, Rodriguez was left to watch from home, at the midst of yet another crossroads in a career that has so often flattered to deceive.

The key factor behind his latest streak, of course, comes in the form of the change on the bench at Goodison Park this summer.

After Carlo Ancelotti – the man who previously oversaw one of the best forms of the midfielder’s career – opted to end his stint with the Blues to seal a return to Real Madrid, Rafael Benitez was quickly installed in its place.

And reports, in turn, quickly began to surface that the Spaniard, unlike his predecessor, saw little room for Rodriguez in his setup.

to Qatar

The English and Turkish markets (a destination the 30-year-old had been linked to) closed, however, James remained an Everton player.

As a result, it had just been assumed since that he would be forced to stay at Goodison Park, at least until January.

On Monday, however, it was learned that a new contender had emerged in the midfielder’s service race.

According to the reliable Paul Joyce of The Times, Rodriguez has started talks with a club in Qatar, with the Colombian and Everton appearing eager to strike a deal:

And, as noted above, a huge update on the situation has since developed.

According to Turkish transfer expert Ekrem Konur, in an article featuring Rodriguez Photoshopé in club colors, the 30-year-old has now been “transferred” to Al-Rayyan:
