Governor Kathy Hocul Visits Brooklyn School Amid COVID Vaccination Campaign – .

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – Governor Kathy Hochul visits a school in Flatbush, Brooklyn this morning as she continues to advance her “Vax to School” campaign. And soon, virtually all school-aged children will be eligible for the vaccinations, after Pfizer announced that its data shows their vaccine to be safe and effective for children aged 5 to 11.
The study has yet to be peer reviewed before the FDA can authorize emergency use of the vaccine for children. But Dr Anthony Fauci said he expects that to happen. here Halloween.

In the Pfizer study, young children received only a third of what adults receive, with similar effectiveness, the company said.

“Children’s immune response is more robust,” said David Cornfield of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Stanford. “Therefore, dosing the vaccine a little bit allowed these children to achieve antibody efficacy. “

“Masking is one level of protection, and the vaccine is a whole other level of protection,” said Dr Waleed Javaid of Mount Sinai. “This really brings us to almost the elimination of COVID. “

Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that schools would return to weekly COVID testing for unvaccinated students instead of bi-weekly.

And unvaccinated students who come in close contact with someone who tests positive will no longer have to self-quarantine.

It’s a way to keep more children in the classroom. But it is controversial.

But the teachers’ union is officially opposed to relaxing quarantine rules.

“We strongly disagree with the mayor’s plan to limit the quarantine process to certain children rather than an entire classroom,” said UFT president Michael Mulgrew.

He added that it is unrealistic to think that all children wear their masks at all times and keep their distance.
