The photo showed Ms. Petito beaming as she stood in front of a mural of colorful angel wings, with a bag slung over her shoulder.
Joseph Petito captioned the post with a broken heart and the words: “ #GABBYPETITO it touched the world ”.
Condolences poured in in response to news around the world that a body, likely Ms Petito’s, had been discovered in Grand Teton National Park.
At a press conference on Sunday, the FBI sent condolences to Ms Petito’s family as they shared the news that the body matched the description of the missing van-life blogger, who went missing in late August.
While they have yet to announce forensic confirmation around the body’s identity, the FBi said Ms Petito’s family has been notified.
Ms Petito had blogged about her adventures across the country in a motorhome with her fiance Brian Laundrie. Mr. Laundire returned from his trip alone in early September and refused to speak to the police.
He was named a person of interest in the investigation and his family has since announced his disappearance. Police launched a search for Mr Laundrie and confirmed on Saturday that it was a missing persons investigation and that he is not currently wanted for a felony.
