A spokesperson has confirmed that Lisa Robinson will not run under the party banner in the constituency. “Racism and Islamophobia have no place in the Conservative Party of Canada,” said Cory Hann, Conservative communications director. “Our expectation is that all of our candidates will conduct themselves in a respectful and tolerant manner. Therefore, we fired this person as a candidate. “
Earlier on Friday Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, the Liberal constituency candidate who is also the incumbent, posted a tweet with a number of screenshots of Robinson’s thread, including one of an Islamophobic tweet.
The “Ward 1 City Council candidate” is none other than Lisa Robinson, the Conservative candidate in Beaches-East York.

“Our community has faced hate too often before, and it is unacceptable that the Conservative Party gives a platform to someone with these views,” Erskine-Smith wrote in the tweet.
A spokesperson for the Tories told CBC News Robinson initially denied that the tweets were his own and that his story kept changing. As a result, the party disowned her as a candidate.
