The global wearable bracelets market saw a 5.6% growth in shipments with 40.9 million units in the second quarter of 2021 worldwide, reported Canalys. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi even overtook Apple in terms of fitness band shipments in the said quarter. The report further reveals that Apple shipped the most smartwatches in the quarter that ended in June of this year. Xiaomi led the way with a 19.6% share of fitness band shipments, while Apple had a 19.3% market share.

According to the report, Mi Band 6 was one of the most popular wearable devices that improved the performance of the brand. After Apple, Huawei occupied the third position with a market share of 9.2%.

According to the report, Apple still managed to secure the number one position in the wristwatch segment with a market share of 31.1%. Huawei was in second place with a 9% market share, while Garmin recorded a 7.6% market share. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 also managed to grab attention with its new WearOS 3 user interface which delivered 85% annual growth and the fourth position in smart watch shipments in the second quarter of 2021. Samsung said a 7% market share during the quarter.

According to Canalys Research Director Jason Low, “Suppliers are trying to make a big generational leap in smartwatch technologies. To stand out, they improve fundamentals like user experience and battery life, create their own distinct user interfaces, and leverage their respective ecosystems to create unique new use cases. But health tracking is the most important use case for smartwatches. The ability to deliver cutting-edge health tracking features and to offer users meaningful data and actionable health information will distinguish winners and losers. “
