Erin Garcia, 44, was arrested after police found her hiding in the bushes following Thursday night’s incident in Placentia.
“Garcia’s 8-year-old was concerned about his driving due to his level of intoxication and followed Garcia to his vehicle,” the police report said.
“The kid grabbed the passenger door handle and told Garcia to stop. Garcia looked at the child and walked away dragging the child alongside the vehicle for about 300 feet. “
According to the report, a witness and the child’s grandmother – Garcia’s mother – attempted to intervene.
The driver stopped first, then “started to walk away and the passer-by was dragged by Garcia’s vehicle a short distance” before the woman fled.
The grandmother called the police, who replied that Garcia was hiding behind bushes in the backyard – where she “resisted and kicked the officers”.
Her child suffered leg and foot injuries, the report said.
The Laguna Niguel resident was held in Orange County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, endangering children and assaulting a peace officer.
