Armed Forces instructor dies as “parachute does not open” in training accident – .


An RAF parachute instructor died in a training jump after his parachute failed, it has been learned.
An investigation has been opened into the crash which occurred at RAF Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire on Friday.

The member’s name, age and rank have not yet been released.

A Defense Ministry spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a serviceman died at RAF Weston on the Green.

“Our thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues at this time.

“The incident is under investigation and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this point. “

RAF Weston on the Green is used by the RAF to train Army, Air Force and Royal Navy paratroopers, reports the Oxford Mail, adding that the airfield, which is also home to the ‘Oxford Gliding Club, is only occupied part-time by the RAF. .
