Executive producer Brad Winderbaum told Variety that there are “several” shows “in different stages of development” for the Disney Plus streaming service, in addition to a second season of What if…? and a series of “photo-real” animated shorts focused on Baby Groot. However, there are no current plans for animated feature films.
Winderbaum did not specify what these planned shows would focus on, but suggested they weren’t just links or spinoffs of established big screen releases.
“We realized that there are a lot of interesting avenues that you can explore with the animation” he said. “Any project we create will be something that needs to be animated for the story to be told. There’s very little desire to take a piece of IP that’s popular because we put out a movie and just make it an animated show. We’re not going to do this.
Winterbaum estimates that around 85% of the MCU cast returned to voice their respective characters in What If… ?, but claims everyone has been interviewed. GOTG star Dave Bautista would disagree (see his recent Tweet below).

“I saw that too” this Winderbaum. “From what I understand, everyone has been questioned in one way or another, either through their agents or directly. I don’t really know what went on behind the scenes there, but certainly, we would have liked him to be on the show. So there is probably a communication problem somewhere.
