Another police officer who fought with Trump supporters during the Capitol riot died by suicide.
DC Metropolitan Police Officer Gunther Hashida committed suicide on July 29, according to an announcement from his family.

Details of how he ended his life were not spelled out in the announcement. Mr. Hashida leaves behind a wife and three children.

A Capitol police officer, Howard Liebengood, also committed suicide three days after the Capitol riot.

Another DC Metropolitan Police officer, Jeffrey Smith, shot himself on his way to work on January 15.

“In his job as an officer with the DC Metropolitan Police Department, he worked to serve and protect the public. He was a devoted and loving husband and father, ”said a statement on a GoFundMe page for his family.

According to police reports, Mr. Hashida was found dead at his home.

“We are in mourning as a department as our hearts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Hashida,” a spokesperson for the department told DailyMail.com on Monday.

The suicide comes a week after Capitol and DC Metropolitan Police officers testified before the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol Riot.

During the hearing, officers said they were beaten, crushed, shocked, sprayed with chemicals and bombarded with death threats and racist slurs by Trump supporters who attacked them during the riot.

Families of police officers who committed suicide said they saw a change in their loved ones following the riot.

“I think if he wasn’t going to work that day, he would be here and we wouldn’t be having this conversation,” said Erin, Mr. Smith’s wife. Le New York Times.

DC Metropolitan Police Office Michael Fanone told the House select committee he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after his experiences during the Capitol Riot.
