Police watchdog called after man died in Coquitlam – .

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – British Columbia Police Watchdog is investigating a fatal incident in Coquitlam early Sunday morning.

The Office of Independent Investigations said RCMP attended a house in Heffley Crescent, near Pinetree, at around 3:20 a.m.

According to the IOI, officers entered the house and soon after, a man fell from an upper storey patio to the ground below.

The man was pronounced dead instantly.

In a statement released Sunday afternoon, British Columbia RCMP said officers were responding to reports of a “disturbance in a house.”

According to mounted police, when officers arrived, the man pushed against the door and ran to the patio. When the police entered, they were unable to locate the man.

The IOI will now examine what role, if any, the police played in the man’s death.
