Columbus, Ohio – The list of U.S. colleges demanding the COVID-19 vaccine continues to grow, after the FDA this week approved Pfizer’s two-dose coronavirus vaccine.
As of Friday, more than 800 colleges had promulgated COVID-19 vaccination mandates according to The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Ohio State University announced its COVID-19 requirement last Tuesday. Students, staff and faculty will need to receive at least one dose of vaccine by October 1.

Senior Mallory Price has already been vaccinated; she told Fox News the tenure allows her to enjoy her senior year.
“I think it’s a really good idea, the reason we’re allowed to be in person is because of the vaccine,” she said.
OSU spokesman Ben Johnson told Fox News that nearly 73% of OSU students, faculty and staff were vaccinated within the first week of class.
“We’re so excited for a more normal year, but it won’t be quite normal. Of course, we are still trying to navigate the pandemic, ”Johnson said. “We continue to see the number of cases increase in Ohio largely because of the delta variant, so we thought it was the right thing to do. “

Despite high levels of early compliance, some students like freshman Colton Lawrence have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Lawrence told Fox News he was on the fence, but ultimately decided to get the shot due to the school’s tenure.
“I know that some people are a bit disturbed because it is forced on us. I don’t know, I was a bit in between, ”he said. “One of the main reasons I get it is because I want this regular on-campus experience. “
In a statement, Republicans at Ohio State College said they “strongly” opposed the OSU mandate on the principal of choice.

“We fully support and encourage individuals to get vaccinated, however, we challenge general mandates,” the statement read.
Those opposing the college vaccination warrants have filed lawsuits in several states, including Indiana, Massachusetts and California. The Supreme Court has already dismissed such a case from Indiana University students.

While most schools will offer limited immunization exemptions for similar reasons, enforcement measures vary widely from school to school.
At OSU, students who do not receive the vaccine will not be aloud on campus for class or social activities. In Connecticut, Quinnipiac University will cut Wi-Fi and charge students a fine. The University of Virginia has already deregistered nearly 250 students who have not been vaccinated.
