Which countries have been added to the green list for England?
The green list – which does not have a quarantine for returning passengers – has now been extended, MyLondon reports.
The countries listed now include:
- Croatia (green watch list – could be moved to orange)
France – moved from amber-plus
France has been removed from the orange-plus list and is now covered by the normal rules for orange countries.
This means passengers under 18 and fully vaccinated passengers returning to the UK no longer need to self-isolate for 10 days.
Spain – travelers are now invited to take the PCR
Spain is currently on the amber list, including the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands (Formentera, Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca).
The government is also now advising passengers returning from Spain to use a PCR test instead of a lateral flow test.
A Covid test is necessary three days before returning from an amber country, and a PCR test two days after arrival.
Anyone arriving from Spain is now invited to also use a PCR test for the first of these two tests.
Most private providers charge over £ 60 for PCR tests and £ 30 for lateral flow devices. Some travel agencies offer discounts.
Portugal is currently on the Amber List, including the Azores.
However, Madeira, an autonomous island region of Portugal, is on the green list.
Italy is currently on the amber list.
Greece, including the Greek Islands, is currently on the Amber List.
Rules for Amber List countries
The vast majority of countries are still currently on the orange list.
Anyone currently returning from an Amber List country must take a Covid test within three days of traveling to England, book and pay for the Covid tests to be taken after arriving in England, and complete a passenger tracing form to indicate where they traveled.
When you arrive in England from an Amber Country, you must quarantine yourself at home or where you are staying for 10 days, and take a prepaid Covid test no later than the second day and on or after. on the eighth day of quarantine.
When is the next revision?
The last changes to the England travel list are August 8.
As they take place every three weeks, the next exam is now due in the last week of August, in about two weeks.
What data are travel review decisions based on?
Decisions about where countries enter the traffic light system are based on data analyzed by the Joint Biosecurity Center (JBC), part of the UK Health Security Agency.
It indicates that a country or territory is assessed based on key categories, including:
· Genomic surveillance capability – the facilities available to track the coronavirus and its mutations.
