LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A Laredoan native proves dreams come true, even if they are out of this world.

In a few days, Victoria Rendon will be traveling to France to attend the International Space University.

“I have always had a passion for space since I was little. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do in the space business, but I always knew the passion was there in the back of my mind.

What started as a childhood dream has come true for 29-year-old Victoria Rendon.

The TAMIU graduate was recently accepted to the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, a well-known school with alumni from all stars.

“There are some real famous astronauts who have graduated from college, one of them is Jessica Mier who completed the first all-female spacewalk. “

Before graduating from TAMIU, Rendon took a six-year hiatus and during that time worked at various health clinics in the city.

She told us that she worried that her brief hiatus from her studies might not look appealing to school, but she didn’t let those fears stop her.

“Here I’m from Laredo, I don’t have the profile they’re necessarily looking for, but I’m like, you know, I did the best I could in my interview, but needless to say I have checked my emails. the next morning, and I had the letter of acceptance. I was ecstatic! I think I ran out of my room and thought to myself “Daddy, they accepted, I can’t believe it”.

As a lover of space and medicine, Rendon says the goal is to someday become an aerospace physician.

“Be there to work the astronauts. Be in the research lab, and you know, research the human body in the environment of microgravity.

As the city’s Gateway Hispanic woman, she encourages others to always follow their passion.

“I know the world becomes a hard place to follow our dreams, we have to worry about putting food on the table, worrying about the roof over our heads, but I still want the world to know that it is is good to dream and it is good to follow through on these dreams.

Living proof that no dream is too big to fulfill.

Rendon will travel to France on August 27 and begin his two-year trip to college.
