To treat speaks of “a seemingly perfect American city whose residents strike a deal with a mysterious alien with supernatural powers to help it recover from social unrest.” When the city falls behind on its payments, a trio of teenagers – led by Allie West (Shipka) – must unravel the secret of her powers.
It was written by the horror writer Nathan Ballingrud, whose previous work has been adapted in Babak Anvari‘s Injuries and Hulu Land of monsters series of anthologies.
“I’m thrilled to be playing Allie – she’s a complex, willful young girl with a real weight on her shoulders: she must be the adult in her family, but she’s still just a teenage girl coming to the adulthood and playing her and navigating her world is really rewarding, ”Shipka said in a statement to Variety. “’Treat’ is a unique exciting audio film and story, and I am very happy to be a part of that experience with C13Features. “
C13Features hired Babak Anvari and Lucan Toh from Two & Two Pictures, and Shipka is the executive producer.
An additional cast is expected in the coming weeks.
