Heartache as Egypt misses gold in handball after France defeat at Tokyo 2020 Olympics

The Pharaohs missed out on a gold medal chance after being beaten by France in the semi-finals of the men’s handball tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Thursday, August 5.

Egypt lost the match by a low score 27-23, with the French goalkeeper making key saves and preventing Egypt from winning a historic gold medal in handball at the Olympics.

Until halftime, Egypt was tied with France at 13-13. However, the French managed to get ahead and eventually succeeded in pushing back the Egyptians.

Egypt will now play against the losing team in the upcoming Denmark-Spain clash to compete for a bronze medal.

After beating Germany on Wednesday August 4, the Egyptian Olympic handball team made history by marking the country’s first appearance in the semi-finals of a handball tournament at the Olympic Games.
