Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed N’Golo Kante aggravated an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.

“He’s injured, he had to get out,” Tuchel said. “He missed the Arsenal game with ankle pain and a bit of inflammation

« [It was] nothing serious as he was back in training and as you could see he started today. By winning the ball in this situation, the opponent fell on his ankle, [and] twisted again.

“He immediately had the same pain he had before the Arsenal game when he missed it. It lacked the strength to accelerate and we had to pull it out. “

Chelsea now have a break due to a series of international games, and it remains to be seen whether Kante will team up with France for their World Cup qualifiers.

The Blues are next in action against Aston Villa on September 11.
