HBO Max offers free episodes to potential new subscribers in the app and for free so they can try out its most popular series before committing to another streaming service.
The company announced that starting today, new viewers considering a subscription can watch a selection of 13 HBO and HBO Max pilots without having to sign up for the service. Normally, subscribers would pay $ 10 per month for the ad-supported level of HBO Max or $ 15 per month to go ad-free and get special perks like 4K streaming and day-and-date releases for Warner Bros. movies. (HBO Max does not currently offer a free trial.) The full list of series that can be streamed for free is as follows:
- The iron Throne
- Harley Quinn
- Lovecraft Country
- Love life
- Perry Mason
- Raised by wolves
- The stewardess
- Fate Patrol (Season 2, Episode 1)
Freebies for potential users will arrive on the service today, and the company has said new episodes will be traded “periodically”. The feature will be available on all HBO Max partner devices including Xbox, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Android, iOS, iPad, Apple TV, Chromecast, PlayStation, Roku, Samsung and, starting today, LG smart TVs.
The introduction of teaser episodes for potential viewers extends HBO Max’s initiative to tease its content to viewers who may not already be subscribed to the service. Last month, the company launched a group monitoring tool to allow Snapchat users to stream pilots for free directly through the app. Netflix, which also no longer offers a free trial, has also introduced its content to potential viewers in the past by sharing it on YouTube.
