One of the Rangers minor league affiliates has had a game affected by COVID-19.
The Frisco Roughriders test positive for COVID-19 and contact tracing is ongoing, the club said on Sunday. The RoughRiders will still play Sunday’s game against Amarillo, but with limited roster.
“Following a positive COVID test by a member of the Frisco RoughRiders, additional testing and contact tracing was carried out on players and team staff,” the club said in a written statement. “As a result and under an abundance of caution, the RoughRiders will have a limited number of players on their active roster available for tonight’s game with Amarillo at Riders Field.
“The Rangers and RoughRiders have been in consultation with Major League Baseball throughout this process to ensure that the health and safety of players and staff is the primary consideration. As further testing is underway, the Rangers will have no further comments at this time. “
Frisco had crossed 85% threshold for vaccines for players and staff, source said Le Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant.
