This brings the total number of positive cases to 157,517 since the start of the pandemic, according to the health ministry.
Five more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported, with the DoH death toll now standing at 2,194.
According to figures released on Sunday, 1,072 positive cases and five deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. The health ministry also said 2,262,641 vaccines had been administered in total.
On Saturday, as eight more Covid-19 deaths were reported in Northern Ireland, Health Minister Robin Swann said it was a stark reminder of the impact of the virus.
He expressed sympathies after the deaths were reported on Saturday along with 1,117 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
The deaths of eight people who previously tested positive were announced on a day when vaccination centers in Northern Ireland saw their activity spike as they last administered the first doses to adults.
“Each death is extremely regrettable and I express my sympathy to all the bereaved families over the past 18 months,” said Mr. Swann.
“The figures recorded today are a stark reminder of the devastating impact this pandemic can have.
“It will only be through continued vigilance and collective effort that we can protect ourselves and those we love. “
