Dallas County Reports 4 Coronavirus Deaths, 95 New Cases; Collin County adds 2 deaths – .


Dallas County reported 10 more deaths from COVID-19 and 1,529 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday. It was the first time since mid-May that the county had reported double-digit deaths and the most new cases in a single day since late January.

County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that the increase in the number of cases caused by the more contagious delta variant means there are few hospital beds available for adults and children. He continued to urge residents to get vaccinated and take preventative measures such as wearing masks indoors.

“Remember, when it comes to the delta variant of COVID, it’s not about whether you will be infected, if you haven’t been vaccinated, but when,” Jenkins said.

Of the new cases, 1,229 were confirmed and 300 were probable. The figures bring the county’s total cases to 338,942, with 290,034 confirmed and 48,908 probable. The death toll is 4,272.

The average number of daily new cases in the county over the past two weeks is 1,148. For the previous 14-day period, the average was 766.

The county reported that 804 people have been hospitalized with the virus. The county had 23 adult intensive care beds.

According to the state, 1,445,958 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 1,190,001 – 54.6% of the county’s population aged 12 and older – are fully vaccinated.

Texas

Statewide, an additional 17,277 cases were reported as of Friday, including 15,343 new cases and 1,934 older cases recently reported by labs.

The state also reported 174 deaths from COVID-19, bringing its toll to 53,738.

Of the new cases, 11,762 were confirmed and 3,581 were probable. Of the oldest cases, 1,879 were confirmed and 55 were probable.

The state’s total cases now stand at 3,411,118, of which 2,879,074 are confirmed and 532,044 probable.

There are a total of 12,841 hospitalizations in the state, including 2,997 in North Texas.

According to the state, 15,968,249 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 13,259,050 – 55.1% of the state’s population aged 12 and over – are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported nine deaths and 864 cases on Friday.

Of the new cases, 695 were confirmed and 169 were probable. The figures bring the county’s total cases to 291,709, of which 243,187 are confirmed and 48,522 probable. The death toll is 3,737.

The county reported that 994 people have been hospitalized with the virus.

According to the state, 1,078,491 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 916,531 – 52.7% of the county’s population aged 12 and older – are fully vaccinated.

Collin County

The state added 405 cases to the Collin County totals on Friday. No additional deaths were reported.

Of the new cases, 335 were confirmed and 70 were probable. The figures bring the county’s total cases to 104,318, of which 85,358 are confirmed and 18,960 probable. The death toll is 881.

The county reported that 425 people had been hospitalized with the virus.

According to the state, 646,401 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 561,454 – 64.9% of the county’s population aged 12 and older – are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County reported four deaths and 400 cases on Friday.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total cases to 85,855, including 62,620 confirmed and 23,235 probable. The death toll is 642.

The county reported 172 people had been hospitalized with the virus.

According to the state, 504,113 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 443,331 – 59.1% of the county’s population aged 12 and older – are fully vaccinated .

Other counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services took over the reports for these other North Texas counties. In some countries, new data may not be communicated every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 13,851 cases (10,878 confirmed and 2,973 probable), 165 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 18,763 cases (15,346 confirmed and 3,417 probable), 285 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 25,790 cases (20,885 confirmed and 4,905 probable), 336 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 22,250 cases (18,636 confirmed and 3,614 probable), 398 deaths.
