Courage The Cowardly Dog star Thea Ruth White dies at 81 of infection after liver cancer surgery

Thea Ruth White, best known as the voice of Muriel Bagge in Courage The Cowardly Dog, has died at the age of 81.

Cartoon Network star’s nephew Brad Zitzner announced on Sunday that she had died of complications from an infection after undergoing surgery to treat liver cancer.

“Sadly, we lost our legendary Feefer (the voice of Muriel) on Friday morning after she fought courageously to try to beat her liver cancer and get back to life or die trying,” Brad wrote in an emotional tribute he shared on Facebook.

“(She ended up with an infection after she got rid of the fucking cancer),” he continued.

Brad then described Thea as the “greatest cheerleader for me and my family” and said “the pain is so deep”.

Zitzner continued: ‘Thank you Feefer for your leadership in your family. The roller that you took with my children and all your family unfortunately cannot be replaced. I can see hundreds of fan tributes already online so your love has been shared far and wide.

“I’ve never met a person who knew you and didn’t think you were the tallest person in the world. It lasted even until you were in the hospital, as I am told that nurses and doctors fell in love as well.

“You loved life and even I know I know the end result. I like your decision to go ahead and try to win. Fuck sticks! “

Brad included several family photos in his post as well as images of his beloved animated series character.

Thea’s brother John Zitzner also shared the sad news on Facebook. On Friday, he posted a video of White in which she was seen sitting outside on a wooden bench.

In the video, Thea happily asked for photos of her family’s “big and small” family “frolicking in the ocean.”

She joked, “It will speed up my recovery. I’ll be up and over to them in five minutes after they open the door to me. Well, ish.

“My sister recorded this before her operation,” John wrote in the caption. ‘She fought herself. She left us today at 11:05 am. ‘

She met her husband Andy White when the two performed together in the play Goodbye Charlie.  Thea retired from acting after marrying Andy in 1983. They remained married until his death in 2015.

John shared another video of Thea recording a message for him and his family as she underwent treatment in the hospital.

The actress laughed and joked as she struggled to use her Muriel voice. “It’s anesthesia,” she said.

John captioned the video, “Thanks to Susan Bookshar for recording this last Sunday, July 25 about 5 days after her first surgery. Wishing her family good times as some of us were in Chautauqua for a few days, thinking she would join us later in the week. His last breath dates back to Friday July 30 at 11:05 am. 2 days after his second operation. ‘
